Jasper the cat/IBS I have received the bottle of MMS and I decided to put that to good use and offer some to him. I spoke to Ann (Schneider–Cullen) about dosage size, and went with a half-drop. What I did was mix one drop of MMS with five of citric acid, and after the three minutes were up I added a tablespoon (15ml) of water to dilute. With the promise of a few treats, Jasper accepted half an eye dropper* from this solution (I'm no chemist but this is apparently a half-drop dose). Within 24 hours, and I would say that actually the effect was immediate, he perked up, became less irritable, his 'starry-coated' look went, and his energy levels soared, to the extent that, in play, he performed the sort of exuberant leaps and jumps that we know are characteristic of a Burmese cat (which he is), but which he has rarely exhibited before. His eating habits became more balanced and after slightly more stools than normal in that first 24 hour period, he then became regular again. Just for the record, he's two and a half years old, and 4.3kg, and has suffered from a weak digestion since birth, which a vet latterly diagnosed as IBS. His acute symptoms come and go and he was in the middle of a flare-up (constipation alternating with diarrhoea, sickness, variable appetite, bloated tummy, irritability) when I decided to try the MMS. This dose seems to have been perfect for him, and I continued to give him one half-dose before bedtime and first thing in the morning for about a week, to consolidate the obvious benefit derived from that initial first dose. I will continue to do so now and again when I feel he needs it, and at the very least as a sort of preventative measure. Thank you for supplying a product which has been amazing for my cat (with emphasis on the 'zing'!). Best wishes, Annie S. , Devon *I bought a standard eye dropper from our local chemist, and although it's made of glass, it was small and slippery enough (and Jasper was an easy enough patient!) for me to be able to empty it towards the back of his mouth, which takes only a second, while holding his mouth open with his head tilted up. When I explained to the chemist what I needed it for, they also gave me a plastic syringe from their dispensing area, in case I felt it better to use non-breakable. All I can say is, Jasper was fine with the eye dropper - as soon as the liquid entered the mouth he engaged his tongue-lapping and swallowing reflex so there was no inclination to use his teeth. He obviously didn't mind the taste, as he willingly took it, night after night, as long as he got a treat afterwards!!! |
