In the mid 1970’s I studied aspects of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Hong Kong. Acupressure is based on the concept of life energy, which flows through meridians (lines of energy) in the body. Some would describe Acupressure as “Acupuncture’ without the needles’”.

I’m writing about the Hoku Point seen below. To better understand the background, know that within Traditional Chinese Medicine, there are principle patterns of disharmony:

Yin-Yang: opposite but interconnected, a self-perpetuating cycle.

Cold-Heat: cold symptoms should be treated by heat, and hot symptoms should be treated by cold.

• Interior-Exterior: refer to the location of the disorder rather than its cause.

• Deficiency-Excess: the presence of either a deficiency or excess of certain substances in the body, such as Qi (vital energy), blood or fluids.

The Hoku Point

The Hoku (or Hegu) point, the mystical oasis between thumb and index finger, rumoured to hold the secrets of health and wellness.

As Henry G. Felsen, a humorist and no medical authority, pointed out quite a while ago, proper treatment will cure a cold in seven days, but left to itself a cold will hang on for a week.”    Darrell Huff, How to Lie with Statistics

When my friend Celia developed a cold, she asked me for recommendations other than the usual shop-bought pills. She had an important event coming up and wanted to be at her best.

I took her hand (it didn’t matter which hand), put a little cream on the fleshy part – the Hoku point – and rubbed for a few minutes in a circular motion.

The next day she called, sounding like a nasal orchestra and demanding to know what kind of voodoo I’d unleashed on her sinuses.

I explained that like many unwanted health conditions, colds go through a cycle.  As there is nothing that will terminate that cycle, the best option would be to accelerate it.

That was what I had done.

I hadn’t told her about this likely reaction in advance because she may have refused the treatment, and she did want to be her best for the coming event.

She was more than a little doubtful but took me at my word.

Two days later she called again, happy that her nose had stopped running and there was no more sneezing.  It seemed that what I’d told her had worked.

Before you go rubbing your hands together like you’ve found some kind of cold-curing magic, let me make one thing clear: there’s zero scientific proof that this Hoku point remedy works. However I know it’s worked for me on several occasions.

Similar to what is offered by Natural Synergy, many readers will have seen the experiments of music professor Anthony Holland. His research using sound frequencies quickly led him to a cancer research lab with an important breakthrough.

One astonished scientist once told him: “You’re killing more cancer cells than if you had used radiation therapy”. The same scientist told him: “If you had spent millions of dollars researching a drug that killed this many cancer cells – it would be a home run”.

Here’s a YouTube link in which Professor Holland demonstrates the science of entrainment using two tuning forks… how the resonance of one fork causes the other to vibrate in harmony with it.  It’s well worth watching.

Whether you use needles, heat, electricity, finger pressure or sound frequencies… all can be used to restore a natural circulation of Qi within your body which unleashes a rapid healing response.
