It’s summer here in the northern hemisphere. A great time for outdoor activities whether it be the beaches, the parks, the hillsides or somewhere in the warm sunshine.
We’re repeatedly warned about being careful of the sun and slap on creams to protect us from sun damage. I could not agree more but with a twist as I’ve not used sun cream since the late 1970’s when I learned that what we’re being told is not even close to the truth.
In 2020 I was in a hotel lobby in Singapore when I struck up conversation with an Australian man I met there.
He told name he’d just been to his doctor where a diagnosis for skin cancer had been confirmed. I asked him what his doctor had given him for it, adding “I hope it isn’t Aldara”
He opened his bag and pulled out…..Aldara.
I explained that Aldara was the go-to prescription for skin cancer in Australia but that it wasn’t all it was cracked up to be. In fact the side effects could be quite serious as you’ll see from this video….
Thankfully my perspective was welcomed.
I’ve been crusading against commercial sunscreens for at least two decades because they don’t do what they claim to do.
20 minutes a day in the sun triggers your body to release over 200 antimicrobials that fight fungi, parasites and viruses.
Maybe that’s why they’re spraying our skies to block the sunshine? Someone recently said I was just a conspiracy theorist. To me that’s a badge of honour as I’ve always believed a conspiracy theorist to be someone who simply questions the statements of known liars, especially when the facts bear out the ‘conspiracy’.
Vitamin D is vital for boosting the immune system, helping combat viral and bacterial infections, helping us absorb calcium and keeping teeth/bones and the nervous system healthy.
Laboratory studies show that vitamin D can reduce cancer cell growth, help control infections and reduce inflammation.
So why block it from forming?
Our largest organ by size and by weight is the skin. It protects us against infections, transmits important signals to our brain, helps us heal, prevents loss of moisture and is instrumental in the production of Vitamin D.

Does it come as a surprise to you that the sun cream industry has been misleading people for years? Depending on where you live, sunshine comes in reasonable doses.
Lie out in the sun too long on the first day of your holiday and you’ll get what you deserve. I’ve seen people walking on crutches because they fell asleep on a deckchair in the sun. Internal inflammations are extremely painful.
If you have red hair and a fair skin, a high SP factor is supposedly increasing the purported protection against UV rays. A brimmed hat and long sleeved T-shirt will serve you far more effectively than dollops of chemical-laden suntan lotion.
The Australian nation is rightfully concerned about skin cancer. However the statistics are misleading because they may be addressing it the wrong way. Be more questioning about the skin cancer treatments and sun creams they dish out. Zinc creams provide a better option but always check the ingredients of what you’re putting on your skin.
There are a wide range of creams available but don’t buy something just because the word ’natural’ appears on it. A scorpion sting is 100% natural but you wouldn’t want one. I know. I took a scorpion sting on a finger and the pain was fierce, lasting over eight hours.
Thankfully my friends at Hippocrates Health Centre in Australia posted an article last week that confirms everything I have told people, including my own children (who I hope are reading this!)
What you’re slapping on your face and body is chemicals that actively prevent sunlight penetrating your skin and forming Vitamin D.

PS When you buy suncreams, check the ingredients carefully. In 2021, Hawaii banned sunscreens containing the chemical active ingredients oxybenzone and octinoxate because studies showed that these chemicals to have a damaging impact on Hawaii’s marine environment and ecosystems, including coral reefs.
